Kentucky reports 439 new COVID-19 cases, three new deaths from the illness Sunday
Kentucky reported 439 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday and three new deaths related to the illness.
As of Sunday afternoon, the state had announced at least 61,542 cases of COVID-19 since the outbreak began, according to the office of Gov. Andy Beshear. Of the cases newly reported Sunday, 68 were in children under the age of 18.
The deaths reported Sunday included a 66-year-old man and 92-year-old woman from Fayette County, and a 91-year-old man from Boyd County, according to Beshear’s office. Since the outreak began, 1,111 people in Kentucky have died of COVID-19.
In Sunday’s release, state Public Health Commissioner Steven Stack encouraged people enjoy the nice weather, but to limit gatherings to ten or fewer people. If hosting a small gathering, he called for people to stay outside as much as possible, wear masks and stay six feet apart.
“We’re not just preventing the spread of COVID-19. We’re also preventing the spread of the common cold, the flu and other viruses which is very important since they can easily be confused with COVID-19,” Stack said in the release. “Kentucky, let’s keep up the good work.”
There is limited reporting on Sundays, so some information, like positivity rate, will not be available until Monday.
