57-year-old woman dies after being hit by car on Alexandria Drive in Lexington

A 57-year-old woman has died from injuries she suffered after being hit by a car, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

The woman, identified as Maria Luisa Salomon Gonzalez, was declared dead Monday, one week after the early morning collision at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. The coroner’s office labeled her death as an accident.

Salomon Gonzalez was hit by a car on the 1300 block of Alexandria Drive, just north of Versailles Road. Police previously said the driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, and it was not clear if the driver would face charges.

The collision happened outside an intersection, according to Kentucky State Police crash data. The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash.

Nine people have died in Fayette County crashes this year, according to KSP data. Six of the crashes involved a pedestrian.
