A man from Owingsville who died in a workplace accident was identified by the Fayette county Coroner’s Office Friday.

Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said the man was Johnny Donahue, a 35-year-old who was working in Scott County when the incident happened.

The accident happened in the 3000 block of Josephine Road in Sadieville. Scott County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Robert Tackett previously said the man was working with heavy equipment while clearing trees and was injured by machinery.

The man was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he later died.

Donahue worked for Mike Swartz Construction and Tree Removal Inc., according to the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet. Ginn said a skid-steer backed over Donahue on the side of the road.

Donahue’s obituary says he worked for the tree removal company for 17 years and took pride in his work. He also enjoyed being outdoors, training walking horses with his father, hunting, fishing and dirt bike racing.

The tree removal company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

No other details about the incident were provided. The education and labor cabinet is investigating the incident.
