One person in Lexington was sent to a hospital Friday morning after Lexington police say there was a shooting.

The shooting happened around 5 a.m. in the 800 block of Manchester Street near Oliver Lewis Way. Lexington police Lt. Jeff Howard said one person was shot, and their injuries were non-life-threatening.

No suspect information was available, according to Howard. There were no known road closures from the incident.

The investigation prompted a large police presence near the scene of the shooting.

Federal and state law enforcement officers also had a large presence Thursday after a man wanted for a parole violation barricaded himself inside a home on Darby Creek Road. Federal officials said officers were trying to serve a warrant on a suspect with a known violent history when they barricaded themselves in a home.

WKYT reported the man surrendered to police just before 5:30 p.m. and was taken to a hospital.

Officers used pepper spray to try and force him out before the surrender, but the tactic was unsuccessful. Kentucky State Police’s SWAT team new tactical vehicle, Rook, was called to the scene for additional help.
