Suspect arrested in May killing near Distillery District

A Lexington man has been arrested on a murder charge in a fatal May shooting.

William Cole, 26, was one of two people killed by gunfire in roughly a seven-hour period May 22.

Chanse Robertson, 35, is accused of killing Cole on on Anderson Street, near the Distillery District off Manchester Street, according to Lexington police.

Cole, who was found lying in the street, died later that night at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

The homicide investigation revealed that the two argued, and Robertson shot Cole multiple times, police said.

Lexington police obtained a warrant for Robertson’s arrest and he was arrested by Nicholasville police. He’s being held in the Jessamine County jail.

In addition to Cole, Justin Lee Jenkins, 19, died after a fight in a parking lot at Campus View Condominiums on South Broadway, near Red Mile Road. Dylan Capps, 20, was charged with murder.
