Lexington man dies after shooting near downtown
A man died late Monday night at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital after a shooting on Anderson Street in Lexington, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.
William Cole, 26, of Lexington died at 10:57 p.m., according to the coroner’s office.
Officers were called to the shooting, on the 1100 block of Anderson Street, about 10:30 p.m. Monday and found Cole lying in the street with a gunshot wound.
A man in a hooded sweatshirt was seen leaving the area in a dark car, according to police.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday. Lexington police are working to identify suspects and determine what led to the shooting.
