Hit at a Lexington intersection, he died. Coroner asks for help finding family.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office is asking for help as it works to find the family of a man who died at a busy Lexington intersection after being hit by a car.

Jose Angel Maldonado-Rincon, 46, died Wednesday at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital of blunt force trauma, according to the coroner’s office.

Maldonado-Rincon was hit by a car on the outer loop of New Circle Road at Russell Cave Road, according to the coroner’s office. His death was ruled accidental.

As of Thursday, the coroner’s office was trying to find Maldonado-Rincon’s family. He is described as having been about 5-foot-6, weighing 165 pounds and having black hair and brown eyes. He was homeless at the time of his death and was blind in his left eye, according to the coroner’s office.

Anyone who can help contact Maldonado-Rincon’s family is asked to call coroner Gary Ginn at 859-455-5700.

Another pedestrian, a 33-year-old man, was killed in a crash Saturday on Versailles Road. Lexington police were investigating that case as a hit-a-run.
