Due to bitterly cold weather predicted for Saturday, organizers of Lexington’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival have decided to cancel the annual parade on Saturday and move the festival to March 19.

“As much as we want to hold our parade and festival as scheduled this week, it won’t be safe for our community and participants to be out in below freezing weather,” said Megan Moloney, parade chair and Bluegrass Irish Society president. The Bluegrass Irish Society organizes the annual Alltech St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival.

The festival will be held 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Moondance Amphitheater in Beaumont on March 19.

The group opted to move the festival to the amphitheater because there were too many events scheduled for downtown on March 19, Moloney said.

The parade will return on March 11, 2023.

The group has had to scratch the last two St. Patrick’s Day festivities due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Moondance Amphitheater is a Lexington Parks and Recreation facility located at 1152 Monarch Street in the Beaumont neighborhood.
