Greyline Station campus expanding to include possible distillery. Here’s the plan
A popular north Lexington dining and shopping destination will soon be expanding.
On Thursday, the Urban County Planning Commission unanimously approved a 5,000 square foot expansion at 109 W. Loudon Ave for a new kombucha shop and possibly a distillery.
The current building houses Black Soil, which does outreach and education centered on Black agriculture. The building is on the same campus as Greyline Station, which houses the Julietta Market and the Lexington Herald-Leader office.
No one opposed the expansion during Thursday’s meeting.
Black Soil will remain in the building, said Chad Needham, the developer of the Greyline Station campus.
The plans include adding 5,000 square feet to the back of the 109 W. Loudon building, Needham said.
Thrive Brew Kombucha, which is currently on North Limestone, wishes to move into the building for a kombucha distillery, he said.
Needham said another distillery is also looking at locating to the building. Needham said he could not release the name of the distillery.
The news comes as more changes are coming to the area of Loudon and North Limestone.
Old North Kitchen, an expansion of Old North Bar in Greyline Station, held a grand opening on June 16. The Breeze Wine Bar currently inside Greyline Station will soon become Darling Wine Bar. In addition, Mexico Mi Amor, a new Mexican restaurant, opened in early May at the corner of North Limestone and Loudon.
