Roads near this key New Circle intersection to close next week. What to know
Some roads near the New Circle and Leestown Road interchange will be closed starting Monday as part of the multi-year New Circle Road widening project, state transportation officials announced this week.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, contractors will close Leestown Center Way at Leestown Road.
On Tuesday, once the work on Leestown Center Way is completed, it will reopen and contractors will close Opportunity Way at Leestown Road. Once the work on Opportunity Way is complete, it will reopen.
Leestown Center Way is where Leestown Middle School and a regional Kentucky driver’s license office is located.
Weather permitting, all work should be completed by July 3 at 5 p.m.
The road closures are necessary so contractors can install a drainage pipe in the area, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which is overseeing the project.

The widening of New Circle Road will be completed in 2027, state road officials said. The project is supposed to address traffic backups and other problems in the rapidly growing area of Lexington.
