Part of a key connector road near Lafayette High School in Lexington will remain closed until February, city officials announced Thursday.

The city announced in early November Rosemont Garden from Lafayette Parkway to Cherrybark Drive would close for the sewer project and would reopen in early December. That reopening date has now been pushed to early February due to construction delays.

Drivers should use Cherrybark Drive and Southland Drive to detour around the closure.

Residents will be able to access their homes during construction, city officials said.

The Rosemont Garden sewer project will upsize approximately 4,500 feet of sanitary sewer line along Wolf Run Creek. Construction is estimated to be finished by the end of 2026. This project is part of a federal consent decree which required Lexington to improve its sanitary sewer system.
