Fayette County Public Schools student struck by car on Harrodsburg Road

A Fayette County Public Schools student was hit by a car Tuesday morning along Harrodsburg Road, according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center and the school district.

The collision happened just before 8 a.m. Jan. 6 at Harrodsburg Road and Blue Ash Drive. The traffic management center described it as an injury collision involving a pedestrian.

Miranda Scully, a spokesperson for the school district, confirmed a FCPS student was involved in the collision. The student’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and the family has been notified.

The Lexington Fire Department said the student was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

“We are working closely with law enforcement and medical personnel, and our immediate priority is supporting the student and their family,” Scully said in a statement.

No additional details about the victim, including age, were immediately available Tuesday morning.

All inbounds lanes of Harrodsburg Road were initially blocked off, but as of 8:15 a.m., the traffic management center said one had reopened.

This is a developing story.
