Serious crash in Central Kentucky causes injuries. Police investigating

A driver in Nicholasville is in critical condition after being involved in a serious car accident Monday evening, according to Sam Wade with the Nicholasville Police Department.

Nicholasville police said the accident took place at roughly 8:15 p.m. Monday at the intersection U.S. 27 and Elizabeth Drive. A driver in a passenger car was traveling towards the intersection and rear-ended a dump truck just after it started going forward after stopping at a red light, according to Wade.

Only the driver of the passenger car was sent to the hospital, according to Wade. Wade said the driver was in critical condition the last time police were made aware of their status.

The road was closed so a collision reconstruction team could investigate the scene. Police said it reopened at 10:37 p.m.

There were multiple serious crashes in Central Kentucky Monday night. Lexington police responded to a collision that left one person with life-threatening injuries. A driver was charged with DUI in that crash. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office also responded to a crash Monday that left a 22-year-old dead.
