Woman dies after Scott County crash that also injured two children

A woman has died and two children were among three seriously injured in car accident Friday on Long Like Pike, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and a media report.

According to the office, two vehicles collided head-on in a curve between Glass Pike and Loyd Road at approximately 8 a.m.

All of the injured were taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, according to the sheriff.

Kristen Charron, 28, later died, according to WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s reporting partner. One of the two 9-year-old children is in critical condition.

The crash occurred after a pickup truck driver was “briefly distracted and looked away from the road,” the sheriff’s office said, according to WKYT. When he looked up, he was in the other lane and hit the car.
