Body found by helicopter is missing Central Kentucky woman, coroner confirms
A body found in Scott County has been identified as a woman who had been missing since Friday, the Scott County coroner’s office confirmed Tuesday.
The body of Mary Haralson, 69, was found Monday. It was spotted by a helicopter while Scott County officials were searching for her. The autopsy was completed Tuesday morning, and she died of natural causes, Scott County Coroner John Goble said.
Her death was “brought on by her exposure to the environment elements,” said Sgt. Eddie Hart from the Scott County sheriff’s office.
Haralson had been the subject of a missing persons investigation since Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office.
Haralson disappeared in the area of 265 South Rays Fork, according to officials. They believed she got hurt while walking in a large wooded area behind her home Friday. She left a voicemail that day saying she had turned her ankle and was near water and a deer stand. The South Rays Fork area is in Corinth.
The sheriff’s office said Haralson was spotted on a trail camera Friday night and encouraged others with cameras to check their footage. The sheriff’s office temporarily suspended the search Sunday night before returning Monday with the Scott County Helicopter Aviation Unit.
The helicopter unit spotted the body and other officials located it. They confirmed it was a dead female. The identity was unknown until Tuesday morning.
No foul play is suspected, Hart said. Scott County agencies have concluded their investigations.
