Scott County Sheriff hit by patrol car, suffers minor injuries
Scott County Sheriff Tony Hampton was hit by one of his department’s own patrol cars and is now resting at home with minor injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
The accident happened Tuesday afternoon in the back parking lot of the sheriff’s office. The office said a deputy was backing out from a parked position and didn’t see Hampton before hitting him.
The sheriff’s office said Hampton was transported to Georgetown Hospital before being released. The accident is being investigated by the Georgetown Police Department.
