1 person dead after two-vehicle collision in Central Kentucky, sheriff’s office says

One person in Scott County is dead after a two-vehicle collision, according to Sgt. Robert Tackett with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Lexington Road and McClelland Circle. Tackett said an SUV was traveling south on Lexington Road when it hit a passenger vehicle attempting to turn left from from Lexington Road onto McClelland Circle.

“The passenger car failed to clear the intersection resulting in the collision between the two vehicles,” Tackett wrote in a press release.

The driver of one of the vehicles involved was declared dead on scene, according to Tackett. It’s unclear if that driver came from the SUV or the passenger car.

The identity of the person who died has not been made public as of Wednesday morning.

The other driver involved is cooperating with authorities, Tackett said.
