Man dies after being injured on the job at Toyota plant in Georgetown
A man working at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky in Georgetown died after being injured at work Tuesday morning.
Scott County Coroner Mark Sutton said Diego Garcia, 39, was injured when “a heavy object fell off of a forklift and hit him.”
Sutton said Garcia was taken to Georgetown Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He said an investigation is still ongoing to determine how it occurred.
Toyota said in a statement that the incident occurred at about 11 a.m.
“We are working closely and cooperating fully with all agencies and investigations into the incident,” the statement reads. “Words cannot express our sadness for our fellow team member and our deepest sympathies go to his loved ones.”
