Shooting victim found at construction site of Central KY high school. Police investigate
A body was found at a construction site for the new Scott County High School, according to Georgetown police.
Police confirmed the body was found at the construction site of the New Scott County High School. The victim was a female.
WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s news-reporting partner, reported the woman had at least one gunshot wound. Police said they are investigating the case as a homicide.
The body was found by construction workers at approximately 6:30 a.m., according to WKYT. The woman did not work at the construction site and does not have any known connections to the site, WKYT reported.
Officials worked quickly to secure the scene and shield the incident from onlookers, but not before the morning’s school traffic, according to police. The scene wasn’t officially blocked off until a crime scene truck arrived later in the day.
“While it may seem like common practice to conceal a potential crime scene with a sheet or other type of cover, this can contaminate the scene by introducing trace evidence not related to the crime being investigate,” police said in a Facebook post.
