Person severely burned, dog rescued from burning mobile home in Central Kentucky

One person was severely burned in a mobile home fire Wednesday, according to the Georgetown Fire Department.

The fire happened sometime before 11 a.m. in the area of Robinson Trailer Park, according to the Scott County Fire Department, which assisted the Georgetown Fire Department in fighting the fire. Georgetown officials said firefighters found an unconscious person inside the burning building during the initial search.

The person was removed from the mobile home and sent to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with severe burn injuries, according to Georgetown fire.

Two dogs were also inside the home when it caught fire. Georgetown officials said one dog died, but the other was rescued and is expected to make a full recovery.

Firefighters battled intense heat and black-out smoke conditions while trying to put out the flames, Georgetown said. What caused the fire and the extent of the damage to the home wasn’t provided by Georgetown fire.
