One man died and two other people were hospitalized — one in critical condition — after a crash involving a passenger car and a motorcycle in Scott County Friday night.

Scott County Coroner Mark Sutton said the operator of the motorcycle, Robert Copeland, 49, of Lawrenceburg, died at the scene of the collision at the intersection of Lexington Road and McClelland Circle.

The crash happened at 8:22 p.m., when a northbound passenger car on Lexington Road tried to turn left onto McClelland Circle at a flashing yellow light and collided with the motorcycle, which was southbound on Lexington Road, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office said.

A female passenger on the motorcycle was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital in critical condition, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver of the car was also taken to UK with injuries that were not life-threatening.
