Georgetown movie theater sold, will close temporarily this summer
The Theatres of Georgetown will temporarily close this summer while the theater switches to new management, according to a Facebook post from the theater.
The theater’s final showing under the current management, Roaden Enterprises, will take place Thursday. The theater will show multiple viewings of “Ballerina,” “Karate Kid: Legends,” “Lilo & Stitch,” “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” “The Last Rodeo” and “Final Destination: Bloodlines.”
It was not immediately clear Tuesday morning who bought the theater, but Roaden Enterprises said it’s expected to reopen in July.
“We are going to miss our staff, managers and delivering great movies to the community,” the theater said in the Facebook post. “It has been a pleasure to provide entertainment to Scott and surrounding counties for the past 15 years.”
The theater, at 401 Outlet Center Drive in the Factory Stores of America outlet mall in Georgetown, has been owned by Roaden Enterprises since late 2009.
The previous owner, Nova Cinemas, closed the theater amid the late 2000s recession and noted other closings in the outlet mall where the cinema is located.
