A Lexington man was sentenced to 17 years in jail last week for the January 2014 death of two people.
Keenan McLaughlin, 24 was sentenced June 4 on two counts of second-degree manslaughter, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and trafficking in a controlled substance in the deaths of Luis Gonzalez, 62, of Georgetown, and Geneva Rose Spencer, 38, of Lexington. Gonzalez died in a Jan. 14, 2014, crash on Georgetown Road near Kearney Road. Spencer died in March 2014 after weeks of hospitalization.
Police said McLaughlin was fleeing from a Scott County sheriff's deputy when the car he was driving collided with a vehicle driven by Gonzalez.
McLaughlin was being held in the Fayette County jail.
