Scott County: Free Scottish celebration is 7 p.m. Thursdayat Scott County High School

Scott County Public Library hosts a free Scottish Celebration of Music and Poetry featuring Kentucky United Pipes and Drums at 7 p.m. Thursday at Scott County High School.

Kentucky United, an award-winning ensemble, and the performer Ross Carter will present a celebration of Scottish culture and the poetry of Robert Burns. Kentucky United, founded in 2003, will march and play wearing the official tartan of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Carter will recite two Burns poems, Tam O’Shanter and Toasting of the Haggis.

Author Bolz-Weber to speak Jan. 28 at Georgetown College

Writer Nadia Bolz-Weber, author of Finding God in the All the Wrong People, will be the speaker at a free lecture beginning at 11 a.m. Jan. 28 at Hill Chapel, for Georgetown College’s Danford Thomas Lecture.

“I am miles away from Nadia Bolz-Weber theologically, but I sure would love to have her in my foxhole if I got in trouble,” said Rod Dreher, author of How Dante Can Save Your Life and The Little Way of Ruthie Leming.
