Coroner identifies three victims killed in fiery, 6-vehicle crash on I-64 in KY

Officials have identified three people killed over the weekend in a fiery, six-vehicle interstate crash in Central Kentucky.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 in Woodford County, near mile marker 61, between the Midway and East Frankfort exits. State police said the crash involved four tractor-trailers and two cars.

Two of the tractor-trailer drivers and one of the passenger vehicle occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, state police said. The Woodford County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Casey Whitlock, 50, of Paris; Matthew Jackson, 43, of Cincinnati; and John McBroon, 39, of Crittenden.

Two other passenger vehicle occupants and one tractor-trailer driver were injured and taken to a hospital, according to state police. The circumstances of the collision are unknown.

The Versailles Police Department asked state police to reconstruct and investigate the crash.

I-64 West was shut down for several hours Friday night, and the interstate was not fully open until about 12 hours after the crash.
