A man charged with murder in the death of a 37-year-old Lexington woman has been extradited back to Fayette County.

Deputies from the Fayette County sheriff’s office brought Valenti Ware, 35, from the Polk County Jail in Iowa to Lexington on Thursday, the sheriff’s office announced.

Ware was being held Thursday night at the Fayette County Detention Center.

He is charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence in the death of Meghan Lea Acord, 37, who was found dead on Oct. 1 near train tracks in the East Loudon Avenue area. The coroner’s office said she died of trauma from an assault.

Ware was arrested in Des Moines, Iowa, by the U.S. Marshals Service in October. Police have said they think Ware and Acord knew each other.
