The second suspect in a September shooting at a Lexington middle school was arrested early Friday.

A warrant was issued for Randy Roberts, 32, of Detroit, last October after he and Antonio Loyd Jr. were accused of kidnapping. Loyd was apprehended shortly after the Sept. 28 shooting.

Loyd and Roberts confronted another person, whose identity wasn’t released, in the Southern Middle School parking lot as retaliation for a prior altercation, police said in October. Loyd and Roberts were accused of kidnapping mutual acquaintances at gunpoint, forcing them to set up the meeting with the other person and drive the two to the school parking lot, according to police.

Shots were fired in the parking lot during a football game, and the school was locked down, police said in September. About 200 people were on campus for the football game, Fayette County Schools Superintendent Manny Caulk said previously.

Charged with kidnapping and assault, Roberts was placed in the Fayette County Detention Center, according to jail records.
