A Lexington man already in jail has been charged in connection with the shootings of an adult and two juveniles earlier this month in Lexington.

Carlos Aranda-Gaspar, 19, was charged with seven counts of wanton endangerment, two counts of second-degree assault and one count of first-degree assault.

While at a fire Jan. 7 on Ohio Street, police officers and firefighters heard gunshots nearby, according to police. Shortly after, officers found three victims with gunshot wounds in the 500 block of the street, police said. One of the three had life-threatening injuries.

Detectives determined that Aranda-Gaspar and the victims were acquaintances, police said.

Aranda-Gaspar was in a vehicle when he fired at the three, police said. He then drove off, police said.

He was arrested Jan. 9 on charges stemming from two gas station robberies Jan. 8 and 9.

He was being held Friday in the Fayette County jail.
