Someone shot a young Thoroughbred. Now there’s a $12,500 reward for information.

A $12,500 reward is now being offered for information leading to the arrest of those involved in the shooting of a foal in Jessamine County last week, the Jessamine County Sheriff’s office announced.

Unknown people fired multiple rounds from a rifle into a horse paddock, striking a young colt that sheriff’s officials said was 9 months old.

The incident happened between 11 p.m. Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday, Chief Deputy Allen Peel previously told the Herald-Leader.

The horse was found shot at Springhouse Farm off Tates Creek Road and had to be euthanized Friday morning, Peel added. The location of the wound wasn’t revealed. Multiple shell casings were found near where the horse was shot, Peel had said.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Jessamine County Sheriffs Office at 859 885-4139. According to WKYT, the reward was put up by Keeneland, Fasig-Tipton, Hagyard Equine Medical Center, Taylor Made, and the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association.
