Central Kentucky man accused of making child pornography, coercing nine minors
A Madison County man has been indicted on 23 federal counts of producing, receiving and possessing child pornography, according to court records.
Scotty Dale Johnson, 48, is accused of making child pornography by coercing nine minors to engage in explicit activities and then making photos or videos, according to court records.
Johnson was arrested on state charges last August on accusations that he created an account on Snapchat and pretended to be a teenage girl. He was accused of using the fake persona to get juveniles to send him sexual images, according to state police.
In the federal case, Johnson has been charged with nine counts of production of child pornography, 13 counts of receiving child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography, according to court records.
If convicted, Johnson could face up to 30 years in prison on each of the production charges, according to court records. On the charges of receiving child pornography, Johnson could face up to 20 years in prison and the possession charge could result in up to 10 years in prison.
The federal investigation was conducted by Kentucky State Police, the FBI and the University of Kentucky Police Department, according to the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
In each of the charges, Johnson could also be responsible for a $250,000 fine if convicted, according to court records.
