Robbers find medical masks. 2nd holdup occurs, this time outside Lexington

Just a few days after a suspect wearing a surgical mask robbed Cash America Pawn in Lexington, another robbery with a surgical mask took place in Nicholasville.

An armed robber held an Advance America clerk at gunpoint at 931 North Main Street in Nicholasville on Wednesday according to police. The suspect was wearing a surgical mask, a black hat and a navy blue jacket, according to surveillance photos. He was carrying a handgun, police said.

The suspect demanded all the cash and the clerk complied, according to police. The suspect left the business without anyone being harmed, according to police.

The robbery in Lexington was committed on Monday, police said. The suspect threatened Cash America employees with a handgun and took off with money from the store, according to police. Police described the suspect as male, 5-foot-5-inches, 140 pounds, and wearing a hooded jacket.

The suspect for the Cash America robbery hadn’t been caught as of Thursday morning, Lt. Jeremy Tuttle said. He said he didn’t have any knowledge of the robbery in Nicholasville so there was no way to know if the two were connected at this time.

The Nicholasville Police Department has asked anyone with information on the Nicholasville robbery to call (859) 885-9467.
