A man has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of a 31-year-old man who died after being shot in Lexington early Thursday.

Courtney Wrenn, 33, was arrested Friday in connection with the death of Stacey Marshall, who was found suffering from a gunshot wound on the 900 block of Whitney Avenue by police officers who were called to the scene at 12:36 a.m. Thursday.

Lexington police said in a news release Friday that they later learned that the shooting happened at a residence on the 300 block of Michigan Street.

In addition to the murder charge, Wrenn is charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

He was being held on $600,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon in Fayette District Court, according to court records.

Marshall’s death was Lexington’s 12th homicide of 2023.
