Lexington parents arrested months after infant found dead with bite marks

The parents of a 2-month-old baby found dead with several injuries in Lexington last year were arrested Wednesday, according to court documents.

Arrest citations for Rahar Rai, 31, and Chendra Magar, 34, say the Lexington Police Department was dispatched to an apartment on Centre Parkway in June 2023 for a report of a dead 2-month-old infant. The child was found with deep bite marks on his face and extremities that were at different stages of healing.

An autopsy revealed the baby had several internal injuries, including bleeding and bruising, that were at different stages of healing, according to court documents.

Rai admitted to seeing the infant’s 4-year-old sibling abuse the baby one week before he died, according to the documents. Her arrest citation said she did not seek medical attention for the baby.

Magar told authorities he did not notice the infant’s injuries, according to his arrest citation.

Rai and Magar were arrested on charges of second-degree criminal abuse — child 12 or under, according to court records. They are being held at the Fayette County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.

Rai and Magar are scheduled to appear in Fayette District Court Thursday afternoon for an arraignment, according to court records.
