Lexington child on life support after fentanyl overdose. Father arrested and charged

A Lexington father has been arrested after his daughter suffered a fentanyl overdose while under his care, according to court documents.

Terry Alexander, 30, has been charged with second-degree criminal abuse — child 12 or under, according to court records. His arrest citation says he abused his daughter and she received a serious physical injury due to a fentanyl overdose.

The overdose happened at Alexander’s home address, according to court documents. It’s unclear how old the girl is or how she got the fentanyl.

The child is on life support at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Alexander was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center Monday, according to jail records. His bond is set at $100,000.
