Two Lexington homicide suspects arrested in Florida, cops say

Two men were arrested in Florida for their suspected connection to a Lexington homicide that killed a woman on Besty Lane.

Brian Marquez Chavez, 21, and Kevin Marquez Chavez, 18, were arrested Tuesda by the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said the two are charged with murder, attempted murder, first-degree wanton endangerment and criminal mischief.

The two men were announced as suspects in late September. They are suspects in the murder of Esmerelda Lizete Rodriguez Perez, 28, of Lexington. Police found Perez shot around 1 a.m. Sept. 8. She later died at the hospital.

A man was also wounded in the shooting but survived.

They are being held at the Okeechobee County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Fayette County.
