Five years later, four men sentenced. Here are Lexington court updates
Court cases stemming from several homicides in Central Kentucky moved through the court system in December as defendants received prison sentences.
Developments included Lexington men pleading guilty and receiving a sentence for a 2019 homicide, and another sentence handed down for a man who killed another inside a parking garage.
Here are updates on court cases previously covered by the Herald-Leader.
Four men sentenced to amended charges in 2019 homicide
Four defendants charged in a 2019 Lexington homicide received sentences ranging from 16 years in prison to five years of probation.
John Boulder IV, Jo’Qwan Jackson, Javari Butler and Andre Hilliard were charged in the death of Damontrial Daquan Fulgham, 23. Fulgham was killed on Dec. 10, 2019, during a shooting on Osage Court.
Three of the defendants — Boulder, Bulter and Jackson — were sentenced to serve 16 years in prison. The four entered guilty pleas in October that amended or dismissed a majority of their charges. They were sentenced by Fayette Circuit Judge Diane Minnifield on Dec. 6, according to court documents.
Boulder, 25, was sentenced for first-degree manslaughter, second-degree robbery, second-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence. He was originally charged with murder.
Butler, 22, also received 16 years for charges of manslaughter, robbery, and assault. Butler originally faced more than a dozen charges that included possession of a handgun, drug paraphernalia, receiving stolen property and drug trafficking charges. Seven of his charges were dismissed, according to court documents.
Jackson was sentenced to 16 years for the same amended charges of manslaughter, robbery and assault.
Hilliard, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, received five years of supervised probation. He originally faced 11 years in prison for his charges of facilitating a robbery and assault, and tampering with evidence.
Boulder, Jackson and Butler are also charged in an ongoing case that charges them each with participating in an organized crime syndicate, according to court documents.
Man receives 19 years for manslaughter charge
One of three men arrested for an incident that left a man dead after a beating inside a downtown parking garage was sentenced to 19 years in prison.
Juan Linares, 23, was charged with the murder of Michael Yocum, 36, who died in March 2022. Linares was originally charged with murder but pleaded guilty to an amended charge of manslaughter in October.
Humberto Saucedo-Salagado, 25; and Oziel Saucedo-Salagado, 28, have been charged with first-degree assault in connection to the fight.
Linares and the two other men confronted Yocum and Anthony True in the Victorian Square parking garage in March 2022.
A fight ensued, and Yocum was shot and later died. True was beaten and survived.
