Lexington police searching for woman wanted in man’s death. Another suspect arrested
The Lexington Police Department is searching for a second suspect in a January homicide that appears to involve two shooters.
Brooklyn Trigg, 21, has active warrants out for complicity to murder and tampering with physical evidence. Police said she is considered armed and dangerous.
However, Trigg’s attorney Daniel Whitley said his client planned to turn herself in on Wednesday.
“What I find interesting about this post is that we called last week and informed the detective that she would be turning herself in today. Which the police have already been contacted and they are aware she is turning herself in,” Whitley wrote in the comments section of a post on Lexington police’s Facebook page. “Yet they create this post as if she is fleeing or refusing to turn herself in.”
As of 1:15 p.m., Trigg was not in custody, according to Lexington police spokesperson Hannah Sloan.
The Lexington Police Department has a duty to public safety and this is an ongoing investigation,” Sloan said in a statement to the Herald-Leader.
Trigg is wanted in connection to the death of 27-year-old Daievyon Elliott. Elliott was found shot inside a vehicle in the back parking lot of a residence on Fairmont Court in January.
What happened in the shooting, other suspect
Another man, 22-year-old Darrion Saliford, has already been arrested in connection to the shooting. He is charged with complicity to murder, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, according to court records.
Saliford’s arrest warrant says Trigg and another witness were in the car when the shooting occurred. Saliford and another man met with Trigg and the other witness before the shooting happened, and the other man communicated with Trigg after it occurred.
Elliott was shot on both sides of his body, and officials said they found two kinds of shell casings at the scene, indicating there were two shooters involved, according to court documents.
Saliford is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center on a $750,000 bond, according to jail records.
