Another intentional vehicle fire reported at UK. It’s the second in a month

A vehicle was intentionally set on fire Sunday at the University of Kentucky, marking the second similar incident on campus in the past month.

The fire was reported around 4 a.m. An unknown person set fire to a Ford van in a parking lot off Linden Walk and fled, according to a notice from the university.

The fire was extinguished with assistance from the Lexington Fire Department, according to the notice.

The university’s crime log lists the incident as open. It’s being investigated by the UK Police Department, the UK Fire Marshal’s Office and the Lexington Fire Department.

The notice was sent in compliance with the Clery Act, which requires colleges and universities that receive federal funding to notify the campus community of crime and serious threats.

The first fire happened in early June behind Memorial Coliseum, the arena for UK women’s sports teams. The university’s crime log lists the incident as open.
