The Lexington Police Department has released the names of the officers who fired shots that killed a mass shooting suspect last weekend.

Sgt. Ross Collins and patrol officers Kyle Blankenship and Simon Rankin fired on Guy House on Sunday afternoon at Richmond Road Baptist Church, 5899 Old Richmond Road in Lexington, Kentucky State Police said Saturday morning.

Collins, who is assigned to the police department’s Bureau of Investigation, has been with the Lexington police for 13 years, while Blankenship has been with the department five years and Rankin is an eight-year veteran of the department.

All three have been placed on administrative duty while the investigation continues, as dictated by LPD policy.

The officers found House, along with some of the shooting victims, in the church’s back parking lot at about 12:30 p.m. July 13 and fired shots at him. House was pronounced dead at the scene.

Before officers arrived at the church, House had shot four people there, killing Beverly Gumm, 72, who was the pastor’s wife, and her daughter, Christina Combs, 34. Pastor Jerry Gumm and Combs’ husband, Randy Combs, were seriously wounded.

About an hour earlier, Kentucky State Police trooper Jude Remilien was seriously injured when House shot him during a traffic stop on Terminal Drive near Blue Grass Airport.

House then carjacked a vehicle on Belleau Wood Drive and drove it to the church, where Lexington police tracked him.

Funeral services for Beverly Gumm and Christina Combs were scheduled for Saturday afternoon at the church.
