Coroner IDs pedestrian hit, killed by car on Liberty Road in Lexington

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified the man hit and killed by a car last week on Liberty Road in Lexington.

Charles Bowen, 47, of Lexington, was pronounced dead from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the coroner’s office. Bowen’s funeral service is Thursday afternoon at First Corinthian Baptist Church in Frankfort.

The collision happened late Aug. 5 near Liberty Road and Liberty Hill Drive, near the Fayette County Public Schools bus garage.

Bryce Daniel, 35, was arrested at the scene and was charged with DUI. Daniel’s arrest citation says he took field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment.

Daniel is being held in the Fayette County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond, according to jail records.

This is Daniel’s second time being charged with a DUI. In 2017, he pleaded guilty to DUI and possessing an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle and was sentenced to 15 hours of community service and fined $250, according to court records.

Daniel’s license has been suspended pending the conclusion of his case, according to court documents.
