A teen boy who died after being shot when someone broke into his home in Frankfort Sunday morning has been identified.

And the man police say shot him has been indicted.

Chirome Avant Randle, 16, was pronounced dead at 3:28 a.m. Monday at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, the Fayette County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday afternoon.

Chirome was shot in the head at 11:18 a.m. Sunday, when a man police identified as Makale L. Marks, 27, of Frankfort, broke into his apartment on Ashwood Court, according to a uniform citation filed in court by the Frankfort Police Department.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday at the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort, the coroner said.

A man who was shot in the neck during the home invasion was taken to UK and was in critical condition Sunday, police said in a news release.

That man was able to give police a description of the suspect’s clothing and weapon, and police said they found those items in a trash can and Marks nearby wearing only shorts and shoes, the police citation states.

Police said one of the bullets fired in the incident went through the wall and into another apartment, where one person was inside.

A Franklin County grand jury indicted Marks Tuesday on charges of murder, first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, second-degree persistent felony offender and felon in possession of a handgun.

He was being held on $1 million full cash bond, court records show, and was listed among the inmates on the Franklin County Regional Jail’s website.
