Two people hospitalized after Saturday night shooting in Lexington
One person was taken to a local hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries after a shooting in north Lexington Saturday night.
Police said in an update Monday that another person who showed up at a local hospital a few hours later with a gunshot wound might have been shot at the same location.
The Lexington Police Department was called to the shooting in the 2500 block of Kearney Ridge Boulevard at about 7:35 p.m., Lt. Benjamin Stratton said Saturday.
The shooting victim, a man, flagged police down as they were en route, at Georgetown and Spurr roads.
A bystander sustained very minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital. That person was not hit by gunfire, said Battalion Chief Derek Roberts, of the Lexington Fire Department.
Lexington police Sgt. Bige Towery said in an update Monday that a preliminary investigation suggests that a man who went to a local hospital with a gunshot wound later Saturday night might also have been shot on Kearney Ridge. Police were called to the hospital at 9:34 p.m. That man’s injuries also were not life-threatening.
Stratton said he did not have any information about a suspect.
Police asked that anyone with information call them at 859-258-3600. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers by calling 859-253-2020, visiting Bluegrasscrimestoppers.com or using the P3 Tips app at P3tips.com.
It was the second shooting of the weekend in Lexington.
A juvenile was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening on Friday afternoon, after being shot near the intersection of Charles Avenue and Elm Street.
Police initially said they were looking for six suspects in that shooting, but in the update Monday, police said they were still working to identify the suspects and determine how many were involved.
They said the juvenile was not thought to be the intended target of the shooting.
