Two men killed in midday shooting near Lexington park, police say
Two men were killed in a midday shooting Monday in Lexington, according to city police.
The double homicide happened around 10:50 a.m. in the area of Village Drive and Cambridge Drive, near Valley Park. Police said they received a report of a shooting with a victim, and when officers arrived at the scene they found two men shot.
The men were pronounced dead at the scene. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Antwone Sanders, 50, and Roderick Clay, 54.
Sanders and Clay were pronounced dead at 11:47 a.m. and 11:50 a.m., respectively, from multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner’s office said. Autopsies were conducted Tuesday at the state medical examiner’s office.
No information about a suspect was released. Police said personal crimes detectives continue to investigate.

The fatal shooting marks the 18th and 19th homicides of 2025 in Lexington, according to police data. It is also the first homicide in nearly a month after a 19-year-old man was shot and killed at a home near downtown Lexington on Sept. 30.
As of this time last year, there were 17 homicides in Lexington, according to police data.
