A 17-year-old has been charged with murder in a recent shooting that killed an 81-year-old man.

The suspect, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, is being held at a juvenile detention center in Warren County. Bluegrass Crime Stoppers Coordinator Kristyn Klingshirn said a tip helped detectives identify the suspect, and the juvenile was charged Wednesday.

“This is another example of how your tips matter,” Klingshirn said.

Around midday Oct. 24, Lexington police were dispatched to a home in the 400 block of Lakebow Court off Squires Road, near Jacobson Park, to investigate a death. Police found Thomas Kriegel, 81, shot dead in his living room.
