A former Lexington firefighter is facing additional charges after prosecutors say he cashed checks for remodeling jobs but did not complete the work, according to court documents.

Jeremiah Littrell, 43, of Lexington, was first charged with theft by failure to make a required deposit over $1,000 on Jan. 28 after failing to complete a remodeling job he was hired to perform. Court documents say three more people came forward to police after the initial allegations became public, and Littrell is now facing charges in four new cases.

In one case, Littrell was paid more than $127,000 for a project working on windows and cabinets in Fayette County, but supplies were never delivered, and the job was not completed. Other complaints reported to police ranged from $9,300 to $14,000 in payments that Littrell’s company received, but the construction was never finished.

Littrell is a former firefighter with the Lexington Fire Department. A spokesperson for the department said he was hired in 2009 but retired Feb. 12.

An investigation into Littrell’s activity began in November 2025 when a man in Fayette County told police he paid Littrell $60,097.50 to do several remodeling projects in August 2023, but he quit showing up in July 2025. Court documents say some or many of those projects were not completed.

Littrell was also accused of giving Hager Cabinets a bad check for more than $5,000 for kitchen cabinets, which were never picked up, in October 2023. New allegations say Littrell also wrote a bad check for $14,570.72 in July 2025 for more cabinets and supplies, according to court documents.

When Hager Cabinets reached out to Littrell about the July 2025 check, Littrell said “he would make it right,” but the balance has not been paid, court documents said. Littrell is charged with theft by deception — cold check of $10,000 or more in Madison County District Court.

Littrell’s next scheduled court appearance for the Madison County case is April 1 for a preliminary hearing, according to court records.

More information about new allegations

One day after Littrell was originally charged with theft, a couple from Bourbon County told police they hired Littrell to remodel two bathrooms, but he failed to complete the project. Court documents say the couple wrote a check for $14,000 to Littrell’s company, Littrell Home Services, on Oct. 29, 2025, and it was cashed the next day.

Littrell only took measurements at the Bourbon County home and did not complete any other work. Court documents say he stayed in contact with the couple after cashing the check but delayed the remodeling project.

Littrell promised that one of the bathrooms would be remodeled by Thanksgiving, but that did not end up happening. He is charged with theft by failure to make a required deposit $10,000 or more.

On Jan. 30, a victim from Fayette County told police they hired Littrell to complete multiple home improvement projects in August 2025. Court documents say he completed drywall and electrical projects within a month of being paid, but failed to replace floors at the victim’s home.

The victim paid Littrell $9,300 for the floor replacement project. Court documents say he became harder to contact after receiving payment for the floor replacement project and eventually became unreachable.

Littrell is charged with theft by failure to make a required deposit over $1,000 in the new Fayette County case, according to court records.

In February, another victim in Fayette County told police they hired Littrell to remodel their home in August 2024, but he never completed the job or delivered materials, according to court documents. The victim paid Littrell $127,509.79 for a windows and cabinets project, but windows or cabinets were never delivered to the home, and Littrell stopped doing work at the home in July 2025.

Littrell is charged with theft by failure to make a required deposit $10,000 or more in the third Fayette County case. He is scheduled to appear in Fayette District Court March 23 for preliminary hearings in his three Fayette County cases.

Littrell is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in his Bourbon County case Wednesday, according to court records.
