A second suspect has been charged with murder in connection with the 2022 overdose death of an 18-month-old boy, according to the Lexington Police Department.

Hailey Workman, 31, of Lexington, was indicted on a murder charge April 7 for the death of Cho’zyn Wilson. Lexington police previously said Cho’zyn died of an overdose, and an autopsy found lethal amounts of fentanyl and acetylfentanyl in his blood stream, according to court documents.

Workman is the second person to face charges in connection with Cho’zyn’s death. Her boyfriend at the time, Kadarrius Warren, 26, was arrested Feb. 4 and charged with the murder.

The incident happened at a home on Charles Avenue in August 2022. Residents of the home told police they allowed Workman and Warren to stay at the home in exchange for fentanyl, and they had babysat Cho’zyn for several days, according to court documents.

On the day of Cho’zyn’s death, Workman and Warren allegedly used drugs and passed out in a room with Cho’zyn present. When they woke up, they found the boy unconscious, according to court documents.

Warren wanted to call 911, but Workman stopped him, court documents say. She left the home and Warren called 911 to report the incident about 30 minutes later, court documents say.

Warren hung up with a dispatcher after telling them that Cho’zyn was not breathing, and he was not at the scene when officers arrived, according to court documets.

Warren was also indicted April 7. The indictment says he and Workman “engaged in conduct which created a grave risk of death to C.W., an infant child, and thereby caused the death of C.W.”

Hours before Cho’zyn died, Warren was in contact with two other people associated with drug trafficking, court documents say. Phone records show that Warren left and returned to the Charles Avenue home during the communications.

Warren and Workman are being held at the Fayette County Detention Center. Warren’s bond is $1 million while Workman’s bond is $500,000, according to jail records.

Warren and Workman are scheduled to be arraigned in Fayette Circuit Court Friday.
