A man turned himself in to police after a local sheriff’s office allege he escaped two pursuits across multiple Kentucky counties on Monday.

The first police chase began around 6:15 p.m. on the Bluegrass Parkway in Nelson County. The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy spotted a Dodge Charger speeding on the parkway and tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly fled.

Deputies attempted to stop the Charger with a tire deflation device near mile-marker 29 of the parkway, but deputies couldn’t use the device safely due to traffic conditions, according to the sheriff’s office.

The pursuit went into Washington County, where the driver allegedly escaped deputies after a tractor-trailer prevented deputies from safely passing. The driver was found later that evening and once again allegedly did not stop for deputies, starting a second vehicle chase.

The second chase happened on KY Highway 555 southbound at speeds faster than 130 mph, according to the sheriff’s office. The pursuit ended at the Addiction Recovery Care center on Bardstown Road, where the driver allegedly ran through a security gate and abandoned the Charger behind a softball field.

Officers searched the area for the driver, but they could not find him.

The sheriff’s office said identification belonging to Lemus Aguilar was found inside the Charger.

Aguilar later turned himself in to police in Springfield. As of Wednesday morning, online state court records did not list any charges against Aguilar.
