Clark County grandmother accused in killings of her daughter, granddaughter is taken to jail

A Clark County grandmother accused of killing her daughter and granddaughter and then cutting her own wrists and throat was taken from University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital to the Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday.

Lillie Stanton is being held on a $500,000 cash bond. She is charged with two counts of murder, the jail said.

Stanton, 48, is accused of killing Danel Korrey Stanton, 23, and her 22-month-old daughter, Kaydence Ray Miers, who were found stabbed to death late Sunday at a home on Vaught Road in Winchester where all three lived.

Stanton confessed to the killing, police have said. WKYT-TV (Channel 27) reported she told police she killed her daughter and granddaughter because she did not want the toddler's father to have visitation rights, and she couldn't afford to take her family out of state, according to court documents.

Information on Stanton's first court date was not available Wednesday.
