Suspect indicted in September killing at Divas Gentlemen's Club

A man who police say shot and killed another man outside a Lexington strip club has been indicted on a murder charge.

Joshua Lee Tevis, 27, was indicted Monday by a Fayette County grand jury in connection with the shooting of Johntel Desean Crocker on Sept. 22.

Video surveillance showed that the shooting happened after Tevis and Crocker got into a fight in the parking lot of Divas Gentlemen's Club, according to a court records.

Police were called at 2:41 a.m., and Crocker was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he died.

Tevis was being held in the Fayette County Detention Center on Tuesday on $1,015,000 bond.

In addition to the murder charge, he also faces charges of being a felon in possession of a handgun and being a persistent felony offender.

He was convicted of maintaining a common nuisance in Indiana in 2009, and in 2011, in Fayette Circuit Court, he was convicted of first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at noon Dec. 5.

On Nov. 13, another man was shot and killed outside Divas.

Police said Curtis Simmons, 33, suffered multiple gunshot wounds after getting into an argument with some other patrons of the club.

Last week, Lexington police released photographs of five "persons of interest" in that case.
