Blunt-force head injuries caused the death of an infant in Lexington in November, the Fayette County Coroner's office confirmed.

Caz Hazuga II, who was 29 days old, was pronounced dead at Saint Joseph Hospital early on Nov 28.

The coroner's office released the cause of death Monday. An autopsy was conducted Nov. 29.

The child's father, Caz Hazuga Jr., was indicted on a charge of second-degree manslaughter. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for later this month in Fayette Circuit Court.

Lexington police said Hazuga admitted to striking the child's head on a kitchen counter. But the baby's mother, Angelina Rushing, maintained that her husband confessed to protect her and didn't kill their child.
